Hello there! My name is Samer Alqam, and I am a senior studying Aerospace Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, Pomona, graduating in May 2026. I currently work at Carlton Forge Works (Precision Castparts Corp.), as an Operations Engineer Co-Op, where I focus in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Data Automation, and Value Stream Mapping. Beyond this role, I've had the privilege of contributing to an array of projects, from modelling an aircraft fuselage in FEMAP to testing and integration of components on a CubeSat in collaboration with NASA JPL.
My love for aerospace started at a young age when I boarded a 747 and was in awe of the sheer magnitude of this flying vehicle. Since then, all of my educational (and extracurricular) efforts have been devoted to designing, building, testing, and even flying these marvels of engineering. These efforts have allowed me to hone my skills in mechanical design, aerospace structural analysis (both by hand and using FEMAP/PATRAN), Lean Six Sigma principles and application, value stream mapping, and data automation, enabling me to deliver unique and innovative solutions to problems on the board.
When I’m not studying or working to build these vehicles, you can almost always find me at the airport flying them. As of October 2024, I am an FAA-certified Commercial Pilot, and I plan to continue my training to earn a Flight Instructor Certificate. My goal is to share this beautiful passion for aviation with aspiring pilots and help others experience the same excitement and fulfillment that flying has brought to me.
I take pride in bridging engineering theory with hands-on application. Whether in the lab, the forge shop, the classroom, or the cockpit, I strive to push my abilities and contribute meaningful work to the aerospace community.
I invite you to explore my portfolio, and I welcome any inquiries regarding my work or potential collaboration. I'm enthusiastic about building connections with dedicated professionals and pursuing opportunities that foster growth and innovation within the aerospace industry.
